Top Ten Tuesday: Newest Additions to My Reading Pile

Top Ten Tuesday is a creation from The Broke and the Bookish, but now lives with That Artsy Reader Girl.  This week’s topic is about the newest additions to my to-read list.  As it turns out, I’m the worst at keeping a to-read list so instead of trying to sift through everything I want to read in order to determine what I’ve uncovered recently, I’m instead going to do a spotlight on the ten books I have either bought or checked out of the library most recently.  Let’s get going on this very cold day!

The Gilded Wolves is a new release that I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about recently.  Since its cover is absolutely gorgeous, I knew that I had to pick it up and at least give it a try.  If I’m being honest, I haven’t read the description because I like to go in blind for fantasy titles, so I’m not sure what it’s even about!  Sometimes, I really do judge books by their cover.

I keep hearing things about The Foxhole Court and people seem to adore it.  Since the first book in the series is free on Amazon, I really couldn’t resist picking it up to at least give it a shot.  I’m not convinced that this is going to be for me, but I’m willing to give the book a chance to prove me wrong.

I picked The Queen of the Tearling up because it’s one of the Potteralikes that I’ll be reading this year as part of my reading challenge for this year.  My guess is that the definition of “readalike” is going to be stretched here, but it looks like a fun read nonetheless.

I eventually want to do a feature on a few of Reese’s Book Club picks and determine whether her recommendations hold any weight for me, but this means I need to read a few of her picks, first.  The Other Woman sounds like a fun thriller, so I’m on board to see how it goes.

I’ve read two Liane Moriarty titles so far and loved them both.  Since she still hasn’t written too many books, I intend to catch up and read everything she’s written, which is why I picked up The Hypnotist’s Love Story on a sale.  While I’ve heard mixed opinions on this title, I’m intrigued by the description and hope it’s just as gripping as everything else Moriarty has written.

I really don’t know anything about The Child Finder because, as is a common theme here, I really liked the cover and picked it up.  It is, according to the description, some form of thriller, so I will probably enjoy it well enough.

The Afterlife of Holly Chase is written by Cynthia Hand, one of the authors behind My Lady Jane, one of my favorite reads in 2018.  I wanted to see what Hand’s writing is like as a solo novelist and a retelling of A Christmas Carol is a wonderful place to start.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Code Name Verity over the years, and I’m honestly not certain how I’ve avoided it to this point.  It looks amazing, especially given how much I love World War II historical fiction, and I can’t wait to read it in the near future.

I have never read a Libba Bray book as far as I can recall, but I have heard great things about her books.  The Diviners is set in the 1920s and has a supernatural mystery theme to it, so I’m completely sold.  My preference is also to read series that are already completed, so bonus points for all three books already being out.

Finally, The Last Mrs. Parrish is another one of Reese Witherspoon’s book picks.  It’s another thriller and, if I enjoy it, I can go on and try all of Witherspoon’s other choices for her book club.
