E3: What I Want to See

E3, otherwise known as Gaming Christmas, is almost here!  I, like many others, will be settling into my comfiest chair and watching every single press conference to see what awesome announcements come out of it.  Of course, as a blogger, E3 is a wonderful opportunity to write all kinds of posts about my favorite and least favorite parts of the various showcases that will be occurring over the next few days.  Before the festivities begin, however, I thought I would take a little time to go over some content that I hope to see over the next few days.  Not all of these are necessarily realistic, but if I got the opportunity to create a dream E3 conference for myself, these are the titles and genres that would be on the agenda.

1.  More Farming Simulation Titles

This is a generic entry, but I have utterly exhausted the content available in Stardew Valley, Forager, and Slime Rancher.  I’m slowly working my way through My Time at Portia, but it is dawning on me that I’m running out of titles to play in one of my favorite overly-specific genres.  The upcoming Animal Crossing game would certainly fall into this category, but I also hope for some indie showings, likely in the PC conference.  In my ideal world, I would have a constant stream of life simulation titles coming out every few months so I could always be playing one.

2.  New Fallout 76 Content

I know this is controversial, but I really enjoyed my time with Fallout 76.  While I have stopped playing for the moment, I would love to see some sneak peeks at what is to come in the rest of 2019 so I know when there is enough new content to warrant jumping back in for a few dozen hours.  There are plans to open up an entirely new questline sometime this year, so I am hopeful that we may learn new details about this during the Bethesda press conference.

3.  More Fantasy RPGs, Please

Obviously, given my recent playthrough of The Witcher 3:  Wild Hunt, I love fantasy RPGs.  While there are still several more of these sorts of games in the backlog that I haven’t gotten to playing yet (which I’ll be discussing in a future post), I would love to see more announced so I don’t run out.  Obviously, some more surprise Elder Scrolls VI and Dragon Age 4 announcements would be ideal, but more details about Baldur’s Gate 3 or indie offerings would also keep me busy for a while.

4.  Lots of Xbox Game Pass Announcements

I love Xbox Game Pass, as it allows me to try new games I may not otherwise have played.  Therefore, I am hopeful that we are going to get a barrage of new Game Pass announcements at E3, including discussion of the brand new PC Game Pass.  Hopefully, one subscription allows me to play both PC and Xbox titles, but I’m sure Microsoft will be clearing that up soon.  Regardless, I’m hoping for some real bombshells when it comes to Game Pass in order to make my subscription worth its money.

5.  Something Genuinely Surprising

In the E3s of years past, I could watch the conferences without a million leaks and spoilers.  Nowadays, however, this isn’t the case and I often know every major announcement before the first presentation starts.  Even still, I hold out hope that some company will keep something under wraps enough that they can hit us hard with a crazy trailer.  For example, Beyond Good and Evil 2 managed to stay quiet enough that no one expected it to appear.  Hopefully, that happens again this year.

This is just a shortened list of what I want to see and I can’t wait to discuss the amazing announcements coming up in the next few days.  What games are you most excited for from E3?  Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I’m definitely with you on more Game Pass content. I kind of wish they would keep more games on it and not constantly change the cycle of games. Can’t beat all the games I want to fast enough lol.

      2. I can’t wait for that! I think Xbox’s conference is going to be really good this year. They have a perfect opening with Sony not being there to really boost themselves going into the next console generation.

  2. Speaking of Gamepass, I’d love for them to announce further details of how they’re going to bundle it with Xbox Live. I’ve had Live for a while and have thought about Gamepass…getting the two of them together would be excellent.

    The biggest announcement I want is a release date for Ori and the Will of the Wisps! I LOVED the first game and was so pleasantly surprised when they announced a sequel a few years ago.

    Disappointed they won’t be announcing the new Switch hardware at E3….I’m probably going to pull the trigger on buying one by the end of the year (maybe even end of summer!) but would love to know what my options are…..

    1. Yes to Ori! I played Blind Forest just a few weeks ago! Well, I played 75% of it and I passed it off to my husband when it got too hard because I’m terrible at platformers, but still, I’m excited for it.

  3. I’m excited to see what is announced and hope you get some of your wishes granted, particularly the farming/life simulators as they are great relaxing games so I’d be keen to see more. I think I’ll be watching very few conferences live but playing catch up to find out what’s been happening and I’m still looking forward to it.

      1. Right?? I feel like that should have been the actual ending for the game, rather than “optional” content that nonetheless delivers a chunk of crucial story information! It perfectly set up the next installment, but the wait has felt way too long! I’m so ready!

  6. I may be committed to playing the Assassin’s Creed games I missed, but Baldur’s Gate 3 is so tempting. I played Baldur’s Gate I and II avidly. Also, I’d love to learn more about Cyberpunk from E3 – or is that unlikely?

    1. I think Cyberpunk is a likely sight. In fact, I wouldn’t be shocked at all to see a release date reveal! I’m definitely intrigued, but I’m not quite as into sci-do as I am into fantasy, so I’ll probably be waiting on Cyberpunk until I hear a bit more about the gameplay and story to see if it’s for me.

      1. My biggest draw to Cyberpunk is the studio – CD Projekt Red created the Witcher games. So they are one of the smaller studios challenging the AAA dominance of the industry. One of my all-time favourite films is Bladerunner and Cyberpunk looks a bit like that – less grungy though.

      1. Same here 💖 plus the Slimes are adorable. I have the physical Slimepedia (it’ll be outdated after the update lol) and Collector’s edition merchandise. I’m also hoping we get news about Halo Master Chief Collection since it’s coming to PC hopefully this year and news about when Hollow Knight Silksong will be releases.
